The short answer is that PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a plastic. PLA is the type of polymer that the vast majority of our products are made from. In short, it’s a plastic, but a special plastic. While most plastics are derived from non-renewable fossil fuels, PLA is a bioplastic. It is made from renewable resources like corn starch, potato, or sugar cane. In fact PLA is the second largest bioplastic in production.

For our intended application, it lasts a very very long time. You can be assured that with normal care, your product will be there for you to enjoy for years to come.

Our products are extremely durable used in a normal setting. The most important thing to keep in mind for the care of your purchase, is heat. In normal circumstances, this is not a problem. Just don't expose your items to high heat in the range of approximately 120 degrees F and above. Just be aware that the interior of your car can regularly reach that temperature very quickly on a summer day. Therefore, we don't recommend storing your products in a hot environment. A good rule of thumb is to not subject your item to conditions that you are not comfortable in yourself.
